Dixon Christmas Nativity Scene 2008

December 2008

Happy Holidays!!! This month once again was a busy one. I started back to work on the weekends and Adam has been keeping Madelyn on the weekends. Lots of Daddy and Maddie time. He is really enjoying it. Adam has also been studying for Dental Boards which has kept him really busy. Madelyn and I made a trip up to Atlanta the weekend before Christmas. There is never enough time to visit everyone you want to, but we did see most of our family. We had our annual Dixon Christmas party which Madelyn made her first acting debut as Baby Jesus in our not so traditional Christmas nativity. It was a great time. We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with our close friends here in town. We missed our families greatly but good friends are the next best thing.

Madelyn is growing quickly. She turned 4 months on December 22nd. We went to her pediatrician appointment where she weighed in at 16 lbs 12 oz and 26 inches long. Every day is an adventure to what she is going to do next. She is turning pages in her books when we read to her, sitting for short periods by herself, rolling all over the den and laughing like you can't believe. Such a joyous blessing in our life.

We wish all our family and friends a wonderful Holiday season.

Lincicum Thanksgiving

Wessel Thanksgiving

November 2008

This month has been a busy one. First, Maddie made her first trip to Tampa, Fl for her cousin Cheryl's wedding where she did the electric slide with her mom for the first time. Then, we headed up to Panama City Beach, Fl and stayed at my Aunt Shirley's beach house. We met one of my long time friends, Rosie and her new son, Everett. He is 7 weeks older than Madelyn and they talked back and forth and had a good time together. Her Aunt Vicki and Uncle Kevin met us there and kept Madelyn for a whole day to themselves. Then, we headed home only to pack for another getaway. Adam, Madelyn and I headed to Iowa for Thanksgiving. Madelyn did well on the flights coming and going. It made for a great chance to meet more family, especially Great Grandparents. Plus, Grandma and Grandpa got to share some love with her. It was a whirlwind trip and we are at home trying to get back into our routine. I start back to work the first weekend of December, which is bitter sweet. Dad gets to put his skills to good use since he will have Maddie for 14 hours a day over the weekends, while I am at work. Wish him luck!!! In the midst of all the traveling and chaos- Madelyn turned 3 months old. She weighs 15 lbs 6 oz and is 25 inches long. Wow!!! She has become quite roly poly. I love every roll. Keep an eye out for more to come and happy holidays!!!

MADDIE'S 1ST HALLOWEEN

Maddie's Trip to Atlanta and 2 months old

Two Months Old Today!!!

Wow, time has flown by. Madelyn is 2 months old today and we went for her checkup. She weighed 12 lbs 8 oz and was 24 inches. She really has grown so much in the last month. She was greater than 95% for height. Imagine that.

She made her first trip last week to visit family in Atlanta. She had a chance to meet her Great Grandfather Pop, who will be 91 this December. Also, she met lots of cousins and her Great, Great Aunts Susan and Jackie. She, of course, was able to see her Papa Mike and Aunt Vicki. They haven't seen her since she was less than a week old. She traveled well in the car and actually slept through the night for the first time while we were there. I consider through the night a seven hour stretch. It felt weird.

Our next trip is to Iowa to visit for Thanksgiving. Wish us luck that she doesn't mind flying.

A Glimpse at the Past 6 Weeks

The first 6 weeks!!!

Wow, how time flies when you are having fun, having company and lack of sleep. I can't believe our little newborn is just over 6 Weeks old now.

This past month was a busy one- Lots of visitors to meet Madelyn for the first time. First, the Carters came while we were in the hospital, then Papa Mike (my dad) came before she was home from the hospital and spent a few days. Then, Madelyn's Aunt Vicki and Great, Great Shirley made a trip from Atlanta. Next, Aunt Amy from Iowa, then Adam's parents, and finally Aunt Carrie made it down at the end of September. It was great to see everyone's reaction to Maddie and all the love they poured over her. This is one loved little girl.

She has been a joy. We are getting grins out of her now and she turns when both Adam and I speak and follows our voices. Her newest trick is laying on her belly on her bobby pillow (for those who don't know what a boppy is - It is a c-shaped pillow) and pushing herself over it head first. We'll try to catch it on video and post. Pretty mobile little girl so far. Madelyn is going to keep us on the go when she gets going, I have a feeling.

Above are some pictures over the past month. My has she grown already. At her one month Pediatric appointment, she weighed 9 lbs 12 oz. and was 21.5 inches long. That is a 3 lb weight gain since leaving the hospital and a 1.5 inch growth spurt. She is already wearing a good bit of 3-6 month clothes. I think we have a tall one on our hands.
